Reserve Bank of India(RBI) has relaxed restrictions for rough diamonds imported from abroad, to which advance remittances can be extended for rough diamond imports. The objective is to liberalize the procedure further and facilitate the import of rough diamonds.
Banks may use their own discretion to extend advance remittance to Indian importers in favor of global miners/ licensed exporters.
